June has been designated as National Safety
Month by the National Safety Council. This is a good opportunity to involve your
employees in improving your company's safety record and reevaluating their own personal safety habits. Folks always like a challenge and developing a challenge
such as a "Loss-free" June is a great way to raise their safety
awareness...........
Additionally, don't just focus on work-place safety. Good employees are hard
to come by and where they are injured or killed is not relevant. Don't believe
it? Look at these statistics released by the National Safety Council for
1999.......
-
5,100 people died at work...
-
41,300 died in motor vehicle crashes...
-
52,900 died from unintentional injuries in the home...
If these statistics don't demonstrate the importance of off-the-job safety
programs.............well. Your employees are 20 times more likely to die at
home or in a motor vehicle crash than at work.... staggering isn't it?
Make June "Company Safety Month" at your company and help reduce
injuries and fatalities in 2001.
