We were all saddened with the
passing of Mike Rice on October 16th, at age 60. Mike
was active in the trucking industry for his entire life. He grew up as a
trucker's son and learned all aspects of the business, starting with sweeping
shop floors. In 1972 Mike succeeded his father as President of Rice Truck Lines
of Great Falls, Mt.
Under Mike's leadership the company (now
known as Transystems) has evolved from a traditional trucking company into a
specialized, dedicated carrier. There was nothing "impossible" in
Mike's eyes and the harder the transportation challenge the greater Mike's resolve
to solve it. Mike's high energy and dedication to getting the job
done were unparalleled. For folks who worked with Mike, he will truly be missed.
His quick mind, unwavering integrity and unique wit and humor have touched all
lives around him. Mike leaves behind his wife and best friend
Patti, his son John and daughter Ashley. Mike was a true family man with a
wonderful family. Mike's loss will be especially hard on them. Mike's
passion was to help those who couldn't help themselves. His donation of
time and money to Easter Seals, in order to help disabled citizens in the
community, has been selfless for the past 30 years. Memorials
are suggested to Easter Seals or the McLaughlin Research center. Mike was passionate
about both of these causes. So long my
friend................................ You're still here with us.....
